The main visitor center at Manzanar National Historic Site will reduce their days and hours of operation beginning Oct. 9 for two weeks. In addition, the center will have reduced hours on Friday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 8. The visitor center will operate on a five-day schedule and be open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. The center will be closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On Friday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 8, the visitor center will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The visitor center will resume its regular schedule beginning Oct. 21. Hours will be 9:00 am to 4:30 pm daily.
Many areas of Manzanar, including the interpretive exhibits inside the Block 14 barracks and the mess hall will remain open and accessible seven days a week from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Park crews have been successful in clearing out sand and repairing roadways, resulting in the recent reopening of the Manzanar Road Tour route. There was extensive flood damage from Tropical Storm Hilary in late August.
