11:15 a.m. "At early dawn attack him vigorously": the morning of August 29th, 1862:

Join a ranger to learn more about the aftermath of the fight at the Brawner Farm and its larger consequences for the fight to come on August 29th, 1862, as well as the story of the aftermath of the previous night's fighting during which soldiers had a one in three chance of being shot. This 45-minute program will meet at the Brawner Farmhouse.

1:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Brawner Farm Walking Tour:

Learn about the Second Battle of Manassas on the ground where it took place. A park ranger or volunteer will take you to the landmarks of Brawner Farm and decribe the events of August 28th-30th, 1862. This program will go approximately 45 minutes and cover 1/3 of a mile of hiking over hilly, unpaved terrain. Meet at the Brawner Farmhouse.

2:00 p.m. Pope Strikes the Railroad: Changing Fortunes Along the Cut:

Join a park ranger to learn about the Union assaults on August 29th along the unfinished railroad cut. This 90-minute program will meet at the Deep Cut parking lot and will cover one mile of rooty and rocky terrain.

4:00 p.m. Indefatigable: The Trials, Wartime Experience, and Landscape of James Robinson

Join us for a special talk by Jim Bailey, Superintendent of Appomattox Court House National Historical Park and Booker T. Washington National Monument as well as former Chief of Interpretation and Visitor Services at Manassas National Battlefield Park. In this talk, Jim will examine how Manassas civilian James Robinson weathered the wholesale destruction of his Henry Hill farm at the hands of Federal soldiers during the Battle of Second Manassas on August 29, 1862. The program will also look at how Robinson navigated perilous interactions with both Confederate and Union armies throughout the Civil War. Meet in the Henry Hill Visitor Center audtorium.


6:30 p.m. The Twilight Clash:

Join a ranger in real time to learn more about the fighting around the small village of Groveton on the evening of August 29th, 1862. This program will walk about 1/2 mile over grassy, dirt lined trails. Meet at the parking area for the 14th Brooklyn Monument on New York Avenue.
