2023 Black History Month Activities

The park will host the following programs during the month of February:
Virtual Tours

When: Wednesdays – Thursdays
Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Target audience: All age groups
Reservation: Reservation is required
Cost: This program is free

Program Length: 45 minutes to one-hour presentation with Park Rangers, who virtually
share special places in Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life, from childhood to adult.

Requirement: The organization must provide preferred virtual platform(i.e., Zoom,
Teams, WebEx) and invite National Park Service as a co-host.

Storytelling

When: Thursdays
Time: 10:00 AM – 10:50 AM
Storyteller: Mama Koku
Tour: Birth Home of Martin Luther King, Jr with a Park Ranger
Target audience: Grades K- 4
Reservation: NO Reservation is required (first come, first serve)
Cost: This program is free
Contact: Ranger Anderson to hold a space for your group
Open House Tours

When: Every Friday
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Target audience: All age groups.
Reservation: No reservation is required
Cost: This program is free.
Exhibition

A special Black History Month exhibition is being featured in the atrium of the Visitor Center located at 450 Auburn Avenue, NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30312, Monday through Saturday, 9:00am – 5:00 pm. This exhibit shows the artwork that students painted of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the Legacy Campout program, held last October.
