Visitor Services

Assist visitors at the front desk by answering questions about the park and telling the stories of Lowell.

Requirments:
  • Must be 16 years of age
  • Hours: At least one 4 hour shift per week
  • Assist visitors with planning their visit and answer questions about park exhibits
  • Training and uniform provided

Museum Guide

Museum Guides engage visitors, provide informal talks, and share stories of Lowell's past and present.

Requirments:
  • Must have public speaking skills
  • Hours: At least one 4 hour shift per week. The park is open 7 days a week
  • Staff museum and exhibit sites, engage with visitors, provide informal talks, and operate audio-video equipment for orientation films
  • Training and uniform provided

First Mate

Volunteers on our canal boats get to spend their day on the water assisting boat captains by securing lines, opening gatehouses, and assisting with visitor safety!

Requirements:
  • Must be entering high school or older
  • Hours: 10:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. one day per week, July through August
  • This oppurtunity involves working outdoors - rain or shine
  • Training and uniform provided

Lowell Folk Festival

Volunteers at the Lowell Folk Festival will work with community members at a job of their choice: set up, take down, stage assistant, bucket brigade, sales, information booth, music loggging, transportation, and more.

Requirments:
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Hours: 4 hours or more during the last full weekend in July (July 28-30)
  • Willingness to work outside, rain or shine
  • Training and uniform provided
