Land Conservation

A tree grows on a small outcropping overlooking rolling hills of trees extending into the distance.

The landscapes around the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries are ecologically, culturally, historically, and recreationally valuable to the people and communities of the region. NPS Chesapeake Gateways is leading the Chesapeake Bay Program in developing commitments to achieve the Land Conservation Goal: conserving treasured landscapes to maintain water quality and habitat; sustain working forests, farms, and maritime communities; and conserve lands of cultural, indigenous and community value. The articles below highlight some of the important work happening to make this goal a reality. To learn more about the Land Conservation goal, click this link.
