Julie Fonseca de Borges has been selected as the Chief of Interpretation for the Klondike Gold Rush NHP. She replaced Spirit Trickey. Ms. Fonseca de Borges had recently worked at Santa Monica National Recreation Area as the Outreach Coordinator. During her tenure, the park opened a community outreach office in the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical State Park in partnership with California State Parks and the city of Los Angeles. She brings a diverse experience in public service to her new assignment. In 2005 she joined the NPS at Chamizal National Memorial in El Paso, TX as the Education Specialist. Prior to her NPS career, she worked in several museums throughout Texas. Fonseca de Borges has an undergraduate degree, in Print Media, from the University of Texas at El Paso. She was a Marcus Fellow at the University of North Texas, where she received a MA in Art Education with a museum certificate in 2005. She will start at her new position in Seattle in August 2014 and will be joined by her husband, daughter and mother-in-law. |
