Throughout the summer of 2018, local youth have been learning basic photography while being immersed in the history of the Copper Country. Locations include Hancock, Houghton, Calumet, Lake Linden, Dollar Bay and L'Anse. Each of these locations plays an important role in the story of the Keweenaw.

Learning about their own local communities, students developed a pride of place while photographing what is important to them. By creating this spark of local history awareness, the hope is that the next generation of history stewards will continue the preservation movement.

Photos taken by the students will be on display at the Calumet Visitor Center beginning September 7th at 6pm. Thanks to the Isle Royale and Keweenaw Parks Association, a prize drawing for all participants will occur the same evening.
