Visitor Center Information

Begin your exploration of John Muir's life and legacy at the visitor center, located at 4202 Alhambra Avenue in Martinez, California. Watch the 20-minute film, A Glorious Journey, to gain an in-depth view of Muir's contributions to conservation. You may explore the house and the grounds on your own.

Hours of Operation

Muir Home Site: Open 7 days a week from 10:00am to 5:00pm, year-round, except for holidays listed.
Mount Wanda Site: Open from sunrise to sunset. Some programs take place at night, which are ranger-guided only.
Gravesite: The Strentzel/Muir Gravesite is open to pedestrians and cyclists Monday through Friday 10:30 am - 4:30 pm. Ranger-led tours may be available on Saturday and Sunday and require a reservation. Please call 925-228-8860 extension 0.

Holidays

Closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
