Hi, Kids!

Are you ready for an exciting adventure? Becoming a Junior Ranger at the John Muir National Historic Site is fun and easy! Follow these steps to earn your very own Junior Ranger Badge:

How to Get Started

  1. Visit the Visitor Center
Stop by the John Muir NHS Visitor Center and ask for a Junior Ranger activity book. A ranger or your parents can help you get started.

  2. Complete the Activities
Enjoy the activity book packed with fun, educational challenges that teach you about John Muir’s life, his passion for nature, and how he helped create and protect our National Parks. Learn how you can also help protect our environment!

  3. Ask for Help When Needed
Stuck on an activity? No problem! A friendly ranger or your parents can lend a hand. Exploring and learning together makes the experience even better.

  4. Get Your Book Signed
After completing all the activities, return your book to the Visitor Center. A ranger will review your work, sign it, and congratulate you on your accomplishments.

Earn Your Junior Ranger Badge

Once your activity book is signed, you’ll receive your official Junior Ranger Badge! Wear it with pride—it’s a symbol of your commitment to protecting our parks and being a steward of nature, just like John Muir.

Start your adventure today and join the Junior Ranger team at the John Muir National Historic Site!
