Join a ranger at Indiana Dunes National Park on Saturday, March 30, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, for a unique tour of the national park and surrounding areas focusing on the influential women of the dunes.
Learn about the legacies of women such as Marie Bailly, Alice Mabel Gray, May Watts, Bess Sheehan and others who made history... but might not be talked about in history books! We will explore their haunts, hike the trails they hiked, and discuss the roles they played in shaping what is now the national park and state park. This bus tour will be fun and interactive. Participants are encouraged to share stories about the women who are their heroes. The tour includes short hikes and lunch is provided. Please dress for the weather. The program fee is $35. Pre-registration is required at www.duneslearningcenter.org/
In partnership with Dunes Learning Center and Great Lakes Research and Education Center, the national park education staff will host a variety of workshops and tours for in-depth learning in the park in 2019.
The Indiana Dunes Visitor Center is located at 1215 North State Road 49, about one mile north of Interstate 94. For more information on this or other programs at Indiana Dunes National Park, call 219-395-1882 or visit our website at www.nps.gov/indu and our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/
