Do you want volunteer for America’s newest National Park? Do you enjoy being helpful and love interacting with people? Volunteers are needed now to help at Indiana Dunes National Park’s Visitor Center in Porter, Indiana.
The national park has a large and vibrant volunteer program, welcoming people from all over the world. Volunteering at the visitor center is a fun and rewarding way to give back to your community and your national park. In this position, you work closely with park rangers to provide visitors with information about the park and community, both in person and on the phone. You also help ring up sales in the park bookstore, stock brochure racks, and show informational videos. Some volunteers even assist rangers on their programs. No experience is needed and training will be provided for these volunteer positions.
This number of hours worked per week is flexible, but requires a reliable person with a set schedule to ensure we can provide the best visitor experience. Both morning and afternoon positions are available on weekdays and weekends. For more information, call the volunteer program’s Park Connection Office at 219-221-7098 or the visitor center’s information desk at 219-395-1882.
Indiana Dunes National Park is part of the National Park Service. More than 20,000 National Park Service employees care for America’s 419 national parks and work with communities across the nation to help preserve local history and create close-to-home recreational opportunities.
