Kids Needed! No special skills required only a desire to have fun without being plugged in! So just gather the family together and head to Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Chellberg Farm for some fun the old-fashioned way. On Saturday, July 9 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., national lakeshore park rangers and volunteers will be hosting “Old Fashion Toys.” There will be croquet, checkers, tic-tac-toe, pick-up sticks, nine pin, buzz saws, yo-yos, jump ropes, stilts, hopscotch, marbles and more. Can you find the tiddlywink in the straw pile? Do you know how to make a doll out of a handkerchief or clothes pins? Learn to work a weaving loom. How about a game of Go Fish or Concentration? Did you know that people have been playing cards since the late 1200s? This family oriented program will be offered again on Saturday, August 6 at the same location and time. For more information on this or other programs at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, call 219-395-1882 or check the park’s website at www.nps.gov/indu. |
