PORTER, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will be conducting short-term closures of U.S. 12 at the intersection with State Road 49 (S.R. 49) Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, March 22-24. The complete closure of U.S. 12 will last 15-20 minutes at a time between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day. Crews will be demolishing the existing bridge structure on S.R. 49 and the road will be closed to prevent debris from falling onto passing cars. The short-term closures will be coordinated with the South Shore train schedules to avoid delays along the rail line. INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone.
