It has now been rescheduled for April 27, beginning at 1:00 pm as part of the Green Gary event. The Nature Play Zone opening ceremony begins at 1:00 pm at Paul H. Speakers include Constantine J. Dillon, Superintendent of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Invited guests are: Honorable Karen Freeman-Wilson, Mayor, City of Gary, Lori Peterson Latham, Superintendent of Parks, City of Gary, and Lauren Riga, Director, Green Urbanism Department, City of Gary. Representatives of the Dunes National Park Association, NIPSCO, and the Lawicki family who donated the park's new distance learning equipment, will also be attending.

Please note that while the ceremonies begin at 1:00 pm, the Green Gary celebration runs from 10:00 am - 3: 00 pm and offers a wide variety of hikes, presentations, and demonstrations at both the Douglas Center and at the City of Gary's Marquette Park.
