INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL LAKESHORE: The general public is invited to join researchers and resource managers at a one-day research conference focusing on Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. The conference, "Linking Research to Management at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore in a Rapidly Changing Environment," will be held on Wednesday, November 28, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the Berglund Auditorium at Indiana University Northwest in Gary, Indiana.

For more than one hundred years, scientists have been conducting research in the Indiana Dunes. This tradition and history of research continues in Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore where dozens of ongoing research projects are ongoing at any given time. This conference is a chance for scientists and the public to learn and share the information gathered. Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is one of the most biologically diverse national parks in the country and the range of work represents that diversity.

The conference is co-sponsored by the National Park Service, Indiana University Northwest, The Field Museum of Natural History, and the United States Geological Survey. It will highlight previous and ongoing research on biodiversity, aquatic ecosystems, invasive species, and restoration in the region as well as in the national park. Applications to natural resource best management practices will be discussed. The conference is free of charge and interested persons can register at the door or online at http://nirmi.org/conference.php. Registrants will receive a link to an online set of conference abstracts and other information. Lunch is not provided, but can be purchased in the university cafeteria.

This is an important opportunity to learn, share, and network at a forum designed to help bridge the conversation between the latest scientific research and the ways it can be applied to help conserve the region's increasingly threatened biodiversity and ecosystem functionality.
