Kids of all ages are invited to celebrate and play in the outdoors at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Paul H. Douglas Center on Saturdays, August 18, September 1, and September 15, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The program includes building forts, hiking in Miller Woods, doing a free craft activity, and feeding the Center’s resident fish, turtles, snakes, toads, and frogs.

Parents can watch their children’s creativity blossom during these relaxing two hours. Rangers lead the free program and there is no need to pre-register. Playdate in the Nature Play Zone is held the first and third Saturdayof the month through November.

The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education is located in the western portion of the national lakeshore at 100 North Lake Street, about one mile north of U.S. Highway 12 in the Miller neighborhood of Gary.
