Kids of all ages are invited to celebrate and play in the outdoors at the Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore on Saturday, July 1 and July 15, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This program will be spent building forts, hiking in Miller Woods, doing a free craft activity, and feeding the center’s resident fish, turtles, snakes, toads and frogs. Parents can watch their children’s creativity blossom during these relaxing two hours. This program will also be offered on August 5 and August 19. Rangers will guide these programs and there is no need to pre-register.

Afterwards explore the area by hopping on the free Dunes Shuttle service that makes stops at Marquette Park, the Miller South Shore Railroad Station, Douglas Center and Lake Street Beach from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education is located in the western portion of the national lakeshore at 100 North Lake Street, about one mile north of U.S. Highway 12 in the Miller neighborhood of Gary.
