A month-long exhibit, “50 Years of Photography in the Indiana Dunes,” by famed local photographer David Larson, opens at the Glen Firme Galleries on September 8, 2017. Mr. Larson’s photographs, some dating to before the establishment of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, capture the beauty and changing nature of the dunes landscape through the years. His work includes photographs of dunes like Howling Hill that are now, sadly, just memories.

This exhibit was donated by Mr. Larson to the national lakeshore and first displayed in 2016, at the Dorothy Buell Memorial Visitor Center as part of the park’s 50th anniversary celebration. The photographs, and accompanying storyboards, are now offered as a traveling exhibit. In addition to this work, Mr. Larson has contributed both photography and graphic design to the national lakeshore for a number of years. His work has appeared in both the 2006 and 2007 Indiana Dunes calendars and the 40th Anniversary Commemorative Poster, as well as in a number of publications featuring the Indiana Dunes.

The Glen Firme Galleries are located at 92 West U.S. Highway 12 in Beverly Shores, Indiana. For more information about the exhibit, contact the gallery at 219-874-4003.
