News Release Date: September 26, 2018

Get outdoors at the Indiana Dunes Outdoor Adventure Festival, which will take place October 5-7, 2018 throughout the Indiana Dunes region. Packed with outdoor adventure opportunities, the festival will bring together nearly 60 activities in one weekend.

Centered at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center, the festival features activities such as hiking, paddling, biking, geo-caching, photography, birding, yoga, and so many others. The festival has events for everyone including families, beginners, experts, and those with limited mobility.

The visitor center itself will have food trucks, presentations, gear clinics, and a marketplace. Activities at the visitor center will include hiking boot and backpacking clinics by REI, presentations by the Indiana Audubon Society, the Gabis Arboretum, Porter County Search and Rescue and many others, film screenings of local documentaries, regional photographers showcasing the dunes, and scientists discussing the incredible bio-diversity of the dunes region.

Another unique opportunity at the festival will be backpacking in the national lakeshore. With support from REI, we will be leading an overnight backpacking trip to Cowles Bog beach and back. Enjoy the sunset from your tent pitched on the beach along Lake Michigan! No experience required and equipment will be available to rent. We still have a few spots open for this unique opportunity.

Many events have filled up, but there are still spaces available and we are adding new events to accommodate the demand for the festival. Please sign-up for individual events by visiting https://oaf2018.eventbrite.com.

The Indiana Dunes Visitor Center is located at 1215 North State Road 49, about one mile north of Interstate 94.
