Join a ranger for a full moon night hike through Indiana Dunes National Park’s Miller Woods on Wednesday, July 17, from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The hike is spectacular in its varied habitats including black oak savanna and interdunal ponds. The hike culminates with incredible nighttime views of Lake Michigan and Chicago as well as a rising full moon. Many animals are nocturnal so you may see owls or bats as they wake up to go hunting or beaver making modifications to its lodge. Meet the ranger at the Paul H. Douglas Center, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water, a flashlight and insect repellent.
The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education is located in the western portion of the national park at 100 North Lake Street, about one mile north of U.S. Highway 12 in the Miller neighborhood of Gary.
