National Trails Day at National Lakeshore

News Release Date: May 26, 2017 Celebrate National Trails Day at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s West Beach on Saturday, June 3 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Join park and REI staff in activities that include an REI-sponsored 5K trail run, hiking the trails at West Beach, helping with trail clean-up activities, and learning about backpacking for fitness. The 5k trail run same-day registration will begin at 8:00 am with the race starting at 9:00 am. A yoga class will be held near the finish line after the race to begin the recovery process. Backpacking for fitness classes will be held at 10:00 am and 11:00 am and a stewardship program will begin at 10:00 am. Guided hikes of the Dunes Succession Trail will start at 9:30 am, 10:30 am, and 11:30am.
