INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL LAKESHORE: The National Park Service has extended the closure of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Mount Baldy indefinitely. The extension is needed to bring in additional resources for the investigation of the hole that opened up on July 12 trapping a six-year old boy for 3 ½ hours. The boy was rescued and is currently in critical condition at a Chicago hospital. Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is part of the National Park Service. More than 20,000 National Park Service employees care for America’s 401 national parks and work with communities across the nation to help preserve local history and create close-to-home recreational opportunities.
