Date: January 6, 2017

Join staff and fellow volunteers on Monday, January 16, 2017, from 9:00 am–12:00 pm for a morning of stewardship at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Paul H. Douglas Center in celebration of Martin Luther King Junior Day.

We will be preparing native seeds that will be planted around the national lakeshore during the upcoming year. The seeds need to be scarified to encourage germination (scarifying is the process of wakening or roughening up the surface of the seed). Meet at the Douglas Center and dress to be indoors.

The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education is located in the western portion of the national lakeshore at 100 North Lake Street, about one mile north of U.S. Highway 12 in the Miller section of Gary. For more information on this or other programs at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, call 219-395-1882 or visit our website at www.nps.gov/indu and our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/IndianaDunesNL.
