Join a ranger for a hike through Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Miller Woods every Sunday in August from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, starting from Paul H. Douglas Center. The hike is spectacular in its varied habitats including rare and beautiful black oak savanna and when you reach the beach it offers incredible views of Lake Michigan and Chicago. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water and insect repellent. If you don’t want to hike back from the beach, a free shuttle bus will take you back to the Douglas Center.

The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education is located in the western portion of the national lakeshore at 100 North Lake Street, about one mile north of U.S. Highway 12 in the Miller neighborhood of Gary. For more information on this or other programs at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, call 219-395-1882 or visit our website at www.nps.gov/indu and our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/IndianaDunesNL.
