Celebrate the Summer Solstice (the longest day of the year) on Saturday, June 23, with a traditional Midsummer Celebration at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Chellberg Farm. This year’s celebration begins at 1:00 pm. Join park rangers and volunteers at the Chellberg Farm to learn how the Summer Solstice was celebrated a century ago by Swedish immigrants.

Enjoy music, dancing, traditional kid’s games, and craft demonstrations which highlight this fun summertime event. Visitors can even bring flowers for good luck from home to help take part in the age-old custom of decorating the Maypole before 1:00 pm. At 1:15 pm, enjoy the musical procession culminating in the raising of the newly decorated Maypole. Enjoy performances by the children's group Nordikids, Lingonberry Jam and guest speaker Kenneth Schoon, author of the book, "Dreams of Duneland." Kids will enjoy seeing the farm's resident animals. There will also be a food booth for refreshments.

Chellberg Farm is located on Mineral Springs Road between U.S. Highway 20 and U.S. Highway 12 in Porter, Indiana.
