Meet Smokey Bear at National Park's Junior Firefighter Program

Friday August 9th marks 75 years of the Smokey Bear fire prevention program. Come out to the Paul H. Douglas Center on Saturday August 10, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm to celebrate Smokey's Birthday with the Fire Fighters and staff of Indiana Dunes National Park. Children will get a chance to complete a Junior Wildland Firefighter activity book and earn their very own Junior Wildland Firefighter patch. There will be photo opportunities with Smokey as well as special 75th Birthday presents for participants.
 
The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education is located in the western portion of the national park at 100 North Lake Street, about one mile north of U.S. Highway 12 in the Miller neighborhood of Gary.
