Chicago Field Museum entomologist, Jim Louderman, brings his bug mania to Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Douglas Center on Saturday, August 12, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Live and preserved specimens of this largest group of animals on earth will be on hand. Bring your stories and questions for Jim during this informative open house program.
Afterwards, if you want to explore more of the dunes, hop on our free shuttle service. The dunes shuttle service makes stops at Marquette Park, the South Shore’s Miller railroad stop, the Paul H. Douglas Center, and Lake Street Beach from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm every Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer.
The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education is located in the western portion of the national lakeshore at 100 North Lake Street, about one mile north of U.S. Highway 12 in the Miller neighborhood of Gary.
