INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL PARK: Celebrate Earth Day and show your support for environmental protection on Monday, April 22, from 9:00 a.m-12:00 pm, by spending the morning at the Indiana Dunes National Park’s 3rd annual Earth Day Cleanup. Family, friends, neighbors, and park employees will join forces to collect a winter’s worth of trash and debris from roadsides, beaches, the Little Calumet River, and trails throughout the area to help beautify the parks and make the region a cleaner place to live.
“Participating in the cleanup is a great way to take pride in your community, celebrate the spring, and enjoy your local National Park” said Volunteer Program Manager Jim Whitenack.
Registration will take place at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center the day of the event. Volunteers will be assigned cleanup areas during registration. Dress for the weather. Equipment and protective gear will be provided.
The Indiana Dunes Visitor Center is located at 1215 North State Road 49, about one mile north of Interstate 94. For more information on this and other volunteer programs at Indiana Dunes National Park call the Volunteer Office at 219-221-7098, visit our website, download the official National Park Service app, or view our Facebook page. www.nps.gov
