Join a ranger for a hike through Indiana Dunes National Park’s exceptional Miller Woods on Sunday April 17 and 24, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, starting from the Paul H. Douglas Center. The hike follows the Paul H. Douglas Trail and showcases a spectacular variety of habitats including globally rare black oak savanna, interdunal ponds, wetlands, and towering sand dunes that offer incredible views of Lake Michigan and Chicago. This moderately difficult hike is 3.5 miles long with a stop at the lakefront. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water.

The national park began charging an entrance fee on March 31, 2022. The fee is $25 per car for a 1–7-day pass. A $45 annual pass for the Indiana Dunes National Park is also available. Holders of the following federal passes will not pay an entrance fee: Annual, Senior, Veterans/Military/Gold Star Family, 4th Grade, Access (disability), and the Volunteer Pass. For more information on other national park passes and details about the new fee, go to www.nps.gov/indu. Please purchase passes or pay entrance fees at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center, Paul H. Douglas Center, West Beach or at www.recreation.gov/sitepass/indu. When parking, display pass or receipt on the rearview mirror or dashboard.

The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education is located in the western portion of the national park at 100 North Lake Street, about one mile north of U.S. Highway 12 in the Miller neighborhood of Gary.
