INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL LAKESHORE: Join a ranger for a moonlit hike through Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Miller Woods on Saturday, August 25, from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Bask in the light of a full moon during this spectacular hike through the rare and beautiful black oak savanna and enjoy incredible views of Lake Michigan and Chicago. You may also see some beavers, owls or bats as they wake up for a busy night of searching for food. Meet the ranger at the Paul H. Douglas Center, wear sturdy shoes and bring water and insect repellent.
The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education is located in the western portion of the national lakeshore at 100 North Lake Street, about one mile north of U.S. Highway 12 in the Miller neighborhood of Gary.
