Get out of the house this January and enjoy some free films at Indiana Dunes. Join staff and visitors on Sunday, January 7, 14, and 28, at 2:00 pm at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Visitor Center for screenings of three excellent documentaries.

We will show Everglades of the North: The Story of the Great Kankakee Marsh on Sunday, January 7; Tuskegee Airmen: Sacrifice and Triumph on Sunday, January 14; and Shifting Sands: On the Path to Sustainability onSunday, January 28. All screenings will start at 2:00 pm.

Shifting Sands: On the Path to Sustainability tells the local story of trying to balance the protecting of globally rare habitat and creating thousands of jobs in steel mills. Recent success stories of collaboration are highlighted.

Tuskegee Airmen: Sacrifice and Triumph tells the true story of the first African American fighter pilots, the Red Tails through computer animations, historical re-enactments, and archival footage.

Everglades of the North: The Story of the Great Kankakee Marsh tells the story of the demise of the Kankakee Marsh, which once covered over a million acres in northern Indiana and the efforts to restore some of it.

The Indiana Dunes Visitor Center is located at 1215 North State Road 49, about one mile north of Interstate 94. For more information on this or other programs at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, call 219-395-1882 or visit our website at www.nps.gov/indu.
