INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL LAKESHORE: Dunes Learning Center invites the public to celebrate National Get Outdoors Day on Saturday, June 9, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at their Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore campus. Enjoy a day of free outdoor exploration with guided hikes, science games, nature crafts and more.

Find out about habitat restoration on campus, investigate life in the forest and check out what’s a-buzz in the pollinator habitat. Dip a net in the Little Calumet River to learn about water quality. Pull on a tree-climbing harness and ascend into the canopy with Davey® Tree Service. Learn why some bugs are insects, but not all insects are bugs with Franklin Pest Solutions. Get the latest details on local access as well as safety tips from the Northwest Indiana Paddling Association. Relax and enjoy live music.

Please visit www.duneslearningcenter.org/public to pre-register for this free open house. Rain gear donations requested to help ensure students are prepared to explore and learn outdoors.

Thank you to our sponsors: ArcelorMittal, BP, Cargill, Enbridge, Franklin Pest Solutions, Friends of Indiana Dunes, Lakeshore Public Media, Mark Mihalo Family Dentistry, NIPSCO and Wickcraft Boardwalks. Arts activities made possible with support from the Indiana Arts Commission, South Shore Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
