Take a candlelight tour of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s historic Bailly Homestead on Saturday, July 8, from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Learn about life in Northwest Indiana 150 years ago during this free, night-time tour. Meet the ranger at the Bailly/Chellberg parking lot at 7:30 pm and be prepared for a leisurely 1/3 mile hike through the woods to the homestead. No reservations are necessary.
Park volunteers and staff will introduce visitors to the Native American Potawatomi lifestyle as well as the life of fur traders like Joseph Bailly. Learn about the Bailly family history as you tour the Bailly home. Then enjoy a night hike on your way back to the parking lot. Bring a flashlight and insect repellent.
