Take part in a free, week-long, Arts in the Park camp for second to fifth graders from Monday, June 18, through Thursday, June 21 at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore’s Paul H. Douglas Center. The camp runs from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm each day. Rhonda Cox, director of Artopia and Saudra Goldsby, a retired art teacher, will share the skills and materials needed to complete various nature art projects.
During the week of the Arts in the Park camp, there will be various nature art projects including sand casting, weaving, macramé, jewelry, and watercolors. All artists will be able to take home their masterpieces. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is required for this free camp by calling 219-395-1821.
The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education is located in the western portion of the national lakeshore at 100 North Lake Street, about one mile north of U.S. Highway 12 in the Miller neighborhood of Gary.
