A collection of Indiana Dunes paintings is now on exhibit at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore visitor center. The art is the work of the Duneland Plein Air Painters and will be on display through January of 2017.

The Duneland Plein Air Painters follow a long tradition of painting in the Indiana dunes. Artists from the area meet once a week, often in the dunes, to paint outdoors. Weather permitting, the group paints every Thursday, either in the morning or the afternoon. The artists choose their own subject at the site and paint three to four hours, after which they critique each other’s work. All artists are welcome — from beginners to intermediate to advanced and professional artists. The group includes painters using a wide variety of techniques and mediums.

The Indiana Dunes Visitor Center is located at 1215 North State Road 49 in Porter, Indiana. The exhibit is free. For information on this exhibit or programs being offered at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, call the center’s information desk at 219-395-1882 or check the park’s website at www.nps.gov/indu.
