Come view the creative works of artists who have participated in the Artist-in-Residence program at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. The Chesterton Art Center, in partnership with the National Park Service, will host a gallery reception on Sunday, July 10, from 2:00 pm –5:00 pm. The art center is located at 115 S. 4th St. in Chesterton, Indiana.

The collection of works created at the national lakeshore is as diverse as the dunes and features paintings, photography, three-dimensional art, printmaking, sculpture, needle work, multimedia, and poetry. This year marks the 20th year of the Artist-in-Residence program at the dunes and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. The dunes continue to be a great source of inspiration for artists and the legacy of talent continues through the support of the national parks and their Artist-in-Residence programs.

In addition to the works created by resident artists, Gregg Hertzileb, curator of the Brauer Museum at Valparaiso University, will be pulling prints off the original printmaking blocks created by legendary local artist Hazel Hannell. Ms. Hannell was a painter and potter who worked from a studio in the Indiana dunes for nearly 50 years. These blocks were discovered in her Furnessville property shortly before it was demolished. Artwork by Hannell will also be displayed during this exhibition.
