Junior Ranger Challenge -- Be a Birdwatcher

Some of our park visitors have feathers, like this red-tailed hawk.  Birdwatchers can spot different types of birds, even in a city.

Your challenge: Draw a bird that you see near your home or school

 

Directions

1. Go outside or look through a window.
2. Take 3 minutes to look for birds.
3. Write down words that describe the birds you saw (some examples are: white, gray, smaller than a cell phone, larger than a hippo). Or, you can draw the birds you saw.
 

BONUS! Create your own bird.

1. Draw an imaginary bird
2. Give your bird a name.
3. Write down where it lives, what it likes to eat, and what sound it makes.
