Days before graduation and I'm sitting outside writing underneath a tree. Only 2 days and Project Write will be over. All the friends that I've made will be going in different directions. Some going as far away as China, some staying close to home.
Like birds crowding around a peaches and cream muffin, so are we students gathered around writing. We will scatter like the crumbs of the muffin. What am I to remember? I most likely will forget many events after 10 or 20 years. I may forget the events that occurred, a girl beautifully playing the armonica, and another who likes to climb trees. The things they write about will be kept in my memory. I've tried to memorize every one, checking on the blog almost everyday.
Each one influences people in different ways. Some inspire people, some make people put a smile on their faces, some are so specific to the point that makes you wonder and be amazed.
They are like pieces of bark on a tree, the outer layer wrapped around leaves all reaching to the sky. Peeled you see the inner thoughts of others, so has writing opened up my mind. So have teachers and parents guided us as one layer gives way to another, so has one generation guided another. So have leaves bent into the sky, so have words allowed to fly. As autumn comes, leaves fly but always land back onto the earth. So have children come to visit their childhood, visit their parents and their teachers. Winter goes, people go, but spring brings new hope again.
