Ranger Renee said these words, "Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof." Millions of people have come to see it, a Supreme Court justice, the person who comes every 5 years who claims it was his birthday, etc. This is the Liberty Bell, the symbol of justice that states freedom for all.
Where liberty is so close to touch, however, it cannot be touched. It like this invisible force that exists. I was in awe at how many people related to it. There was a visitor that came here - the exact person on the Victory newspaper from years ago - who wanted Ranger Renee to take his picture. Different languages traversed through the hall from Mandarin to Cantonese to Korean to Spanish.
We toured the second White House with the remains of the kitchen, the bay window and the President's Office. There used to be a Governor's House on the corner and a garden in the middle of the bustling city.
Freedom attracts many. Oney and Hercules, two slaves of George Washington, escaped. Even with these living conditions, they wanted to escape from the grasp of their masters. they wanted to be independent. It puzzles and amazes me...the number of people who wanted to go. Did they ever fear? Did they ever miss their homes, the homes they were born in, spent their childhood in? Did they ever regret their decisions?
