Devotion

*Editor's note:  This may not be what you think.  Can you figure out whose devotion this is?  We'll reveal the answer on Friday.

Devotion

She awaits in a serene meadow.

My lover waits as she has waited for what feels like years.

I rush to her, running so fast I almost fly over those soft blades of grass.

We meet in the sun and embrace, kissing and making love like neither of us can understand.

I love her, and she loves me.

She kisses me harder, and I know this will be the last time we touch.

She wraps her arms around me, and gently bites my face.

I begin to stop feeling.

Her mandables grow wider and wider,

enveloping my face and swallowing it,

I feel peace.

I am at peace.

I love her.

She loves me.

Now we’ll be together always.

I’ve given her my devotion.

I’ve given our young everything that I am.

So now I will sleep, and dream of our embrace.

It was worth the wait.

What a surprise twist! Had to go back and read it again before digesting it.

Wow! What a gripping poem! Your descriptions are so emotive - as I went through reading the poem I felt such passion and then such shock! Thank you for your beautiful language.

I thought this was very well written and creative. The images in the poem suggest to me a praying mantis, with the idea of loving and then devouring the beloved. But the fact that the lover who is consumed finds peace in that was a great touch!

Isa: Again, this was very well written. Like the others, I will wait until Friday. Thank you for your great work!

Very well written. I'm pretty sure that I know the answer, but I'll be checking back on Friday to see if I am correct.

I read the riddle, very well written, and reread it several times and I do not have a guess for you. I am not done trying.

Another great effort Isa! I'm pretty excited, I think I know the answer. I can't wait until Friday or for your next riddle.

Isa - since I know who (what?) the speaker is, am I allowed to answer the riddle!? I can't wait to see if readers figure it out. The hints are in there!
