Cameron Gillie, IATA Overall, 156 volunteers received recognition awards and thanks from NPS staff at the event for reaching milestones at the 100-hour, 250-hour, 500-hour, 1,000-hour, 3,000-hour, 4,000-hour, 6,000-hour, and 10,000-hour levels of volunteer service. In Fiscal Year 2018, a documented 2,620 volunteers provided 82,000 hours of service to the Ice Age NST Volunteers-In-Parks Program, equating to $2,024,580.00 in private sector value. Work accomplishment highlights include: partnering with 19 school districts to bring 2,390 youth and educators onto the trail for service learning projects; construction of a cumulative 821 feet of boardwalk, bridges and puncheon; 693 feet of rock wall built; 19,550 feet of newly constructed trail tread; and 10 miles of trail receiving significant repairs and new signage.
