Become an Ice Age Trail Junior Ranger

Welcome, Junior Ranger!

We are thrilled to have you join us. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is a remarkable journey through Wisconsin where you can explore stunning landscapes shaped by ancient glaciers.

To make your adventure even better, the National Park Service has crafted a Junior Ranger Activity Book filled with fun activities.

Step 2: Complete the Activity Book

Get your box of crayons ready. There are nine fun activities for kids to learn about and explore the Ice Age Trail:

Step 3: Take the Pledge, Sign the Certificate, and Create Your Badge

Take the Pledge

“As a Junior Ranger, I will preserve and protect the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. I promise to share what I have learned with others and to continue exploring and protecting our National Scenic Trails.”

Sign the Certificate

After reciting the pledge, fill out your Junior Ranger certificate by writing your name, signing your signature, and adding today’s date.

Create Your Badge

While there are no physical badges provided, you can create your own badge for fun using the template on the last page of the activity book.

  • Cut Out Your Badge: Carefully cut along the edges of your badge.
  • Glue it to Cardboard: Attach your badge to a piece of cardboard for added durability.
  • Fasten Your Badge: Use a clip, pin, or any method you prefer to secure it to an item, such as a backpack or jacket.

This print-at-home activity book allows your child to explore the Ice Age National Scenic Trail in a fun and interactive way. Here are a few tips to enhance their experience:

What to Expect

The activity book includes nine engaging activities that encourage your child to learn about the trail and nature. They will draw, imagine, and evaluate their surroundings.

Supplies You May Need

  • Crayons or colored pencils
  • Scissors for cutting out the Junior Ranger badge
  • Cardboard and glue stick for reinforcing the badge

How You Can Help

Support your child as they work through the activities by discussing their observations and guiding them on how to complete the drawings and exercises. Encourage them to take their time, explore their creativity, and share what they’ve learned with you!
