Detecting the Superheroes at Homestead!

Calling youth to be prairie superheroes at Homestead National Monument of America! We need help discovering the heroes among the prairie. Bring your family and friends to the outdoor Kids in Parks, Detecting Superheroes at Homestead!

Discover how to unmask, search for, and form a league of marvelous and mysterious creatures. Each program have introduction, a hands on discovery time and a craft. The programs will start at 10 a.m. and be done by 12 p.m. on the following dates:

July 7: Bird Power

Did you know that birds have special powers that help them to survive? They are champions and protectors of their environment. But, how can you unmask these courageous creatures?

July 14: Creek Warriors
Who are the warriors of the water? Come learn the amazing abilities these creatures have that live in the mucky waters. Who are friends and who are foes?

July 21: Marvelous Priaire Plant Universe
There are marvelous wonders in the prairie plant universe. Learn tricks to identify the plants in the prairie space!

July 28: Great Bug Realm
The realm of the bug world is a fascinating place. Help to throw a bug realm party as we discover more about these amazing ancient and modern insects!

August 4: Mysterious Heroes

Sometimes the most mysterious heroes can leave evidence of their paths. Come discover the stories these elusive and brave heroes left us!

The Kids in Parks, Detecting Superheroes at Homestead programs are open to the public and will meet at Homestead’s Education Center. This program is FREE of charge and we encourage the use of sunscreen, bug spray, and closed toed shoes as we investigate the heroes lurking around the prairie.
