1967-1968 Summit Eruption

Over 31 eruptive phases, the 1967-1968 summit eruption pumped 84 million cubic meters (110 million cubic yards) of lava into Halemaʻumaʻu Crater. The eruption lasted 251 days with seething fountains, a lava lake, and stunning rivulets of molten rock.
