Photos & Multimedia

The woods and wetlands of Maryland's Eastern Shore shaped Harriet Tubman's early life in slavery, and using her skills as an outdoorswoman, Tubman was able to navigate the landscape for multiple return journeys to bring friends and family north to freedom. See photo galleries below for the main Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center, sites along the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway, and historic images of Harriet Tubman.

Take the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway and listen to their Audio Guide App, available here!
