News Release Date: February 10, 2015 Beginning Tuesday February 10, 2015, Haleakalā National Park will accept applications for guided astronomy and hiking tour Commercial Use Authorizations, which will be valid for up to two years. All applications must be received by the park by close of business Tuesday, March 10, 2015. The numbers and types of commercial tour services appropriate for the frontcountry areas of the park are identified in the park's CommercialervicesPlan. Up to four (4) astronomy tour permits and up to six (6) guided hiking tour permits may be issued.A multi-step process will be used to select the applicants to whom the Commercial Use Authorizations (CUAs) will be issued.If there are more qualified applicants than available CUAs, a competitive process will be used to evaluate and award CUAs. The public provided comments from June-August 2012 and the Finding of No Significant Impact was signed in December 2013. |
