Due to residual snow and ice, and difficulty in clearing, multiple park areas and facilities managed by George Washington Memorial Parkway will remain closed through February 9, 2026. This is to ensure visitor safety and allow crews to address clean-up and hazardous conditions.

The main parkway road has remained open, thanks to our hard-working crews. There are still hazardous conditions and roads may refreeze overnight. Though some areas are accessible by pedestrians, please use extreme caution due to safety concerns.

The following sites and areas are planned to remain closed through clean-up:

  • Clara Barton National Historic Site

  • South Turkey Run Area

  • Fort Marcy

  • Theodore Roosevelt Island and parking lot

  • Arlington House, The Robert E. Lee Memorial and associated facilities

  • Columbia Island (Marina partially accessible)

  • Gravelly Point

  • Roaches Run

  • Dangerfield Island (Marina partially accessible)

  • Jones Point Park parking lot and restroom

  • Belle Haven Marina, Belle Haven Park and Dyke Marsh (Marina partially accessible, no parking)

  • Collingwood picnic areas

  • Riverside Park

  • Fort Hunt

  • Most pullouts, overlooks, and parking lots along the parkways (Overlook #1 is open)

Emergency personnel prioritized emergency access, main roadways, and high-use corridors, including the George Washington Memorial Parkway, Spout Run Parkway, Clara Barton Parkway, Memorial Avenue and Circle, Arlington Memorial Bridge, and secondary roads and residential streets within the park’s jurisdiction. Crews will continue snow and ice removal, coordinating closely with partner agencies and emergency personnel.

Areas will reopen as soon as conditions are safe. For the latest updates, visitors should check www.nps.gov/gwmp and GWMP social media channels. Next update expected: February 9, 2026.
