George Washington Memorial Parkway to Hold Ribbon Cutting at Theodore Roosevelt Island Celebrating New Freeze-Resistant Drinking Fountains and Bottle-Filling Stations
What: Ribbon cutting and remarks celebrating 14 new freeze-resistant drinking fountains and bottle-filling stations installed along the Mount Vernon Trail.
When: Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, 11:00 AM. Target program length: 30 to 45 minutes.
Where: Theodore Roosevelt Island, a memorial in the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. Access is via the pedestrian bridge from the parking area off the northbound lanes of the George Washington Memorial Parkway.
Who: Superintendent Jennifer Madello, George Washington Memorial Parkway; National Capital Region Regional Director Jennifer Nersesian; representatives of the National Park Foundation and Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail; U.S. Rep. Donald S. Beyer Jr., D-Va. (VA-08).
