Glen Echo, MD — December 6, 2025 — The National Park Service invites the public to attend the Clara Barton Symposium, a free event highlighting new historical research conducted by Georgetown University students. The symposium will take place on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Ballroom Back Room of the Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park, located at 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo, MD 20812.

As part of a fall 2025 course focused on Clara Barton, students collaborated with the National Park Service as volunteers to explore Barton’s legacy and the history of the Clara Barton National Historic Site (NHS). The event will feature a lead speaker followed by three panels of student researchers who will present their findings and engage with audience questions.

This symposium not only celebrates academic scholarship but also strengthens public connection to the Clara Barton NHS, which is adjacent to Glen Echo Park and slated for a future renovation. If not already closed for construction, the site will be open before and after the symposium for visitors.

Admission is free and no reservations are required. Free parking is available.
