Struggle and Triumph: The Legacy of George Washington Carver
Length: 28-minutes
Synopsis: Born enslaved and orphaned as an infant, George Washington Carver experienced a lifetime of racism, prejudice, and some violence. He gained national prominence as an agricultural scientist, educator, and humanitarian. Rising from humble beginnings near the small town of Diamond, Missouri, his quest for education led to a 47-year career at Tuskegee Institute.
To recognize his work as a distinguished scientist and advocate for interracial understanding, Congress established George Washington Carver National Monument in 1943-the first national park to honor an African American.
This inspiration movie details some of the struggles and triumphs of Carver's life journey, showing how he become a role model for perseverance and achievement.
